Blue Ion LX FAQ
  • What is included in the LX high-voltage system?

    • BPE offers a complete solution of energy storage, inverter, and control software and hardware to manage the different assets on site.

  • How is the LX different from the Blue Ion HI?

    • The Blue Ion LX is a 480V 3-phase system for commercial, industrial, and community facilities, and is designed to handle much larger loads with power starting at 125kW. It can be scaled up to 1MW / 2MWh

  • What if I need a backup - can the LX work during power outages?

    • Absolutely - the LX is a grid-forming system. With the right equipment, it can safely disconnect from the grid and operate in island mode until the grid power is restored. It is also absolutely capable and designed to power off-grid sites 24/7

  • Can the LX replace a generator?

    • In many cases, a well-designed Blue Ion LX with sufficient PV, together with energy efficiency measures, can provide similar services for backup, or as an independent power source, and therefore significantly reduce a GHG footprint of a facility, and reduce its maintenance cost. A generator - either existing or new - can be integrated into the system. Our team will help you with your design.

  • I need a battery system to reduce my demand charges - can the LX do that?

    • The LX has a powerful local energy manager built-in. It can be set up for multiple applications, including peak shaving, TOU shift.

  • Does the LX qualify for incentives?

    • The LX is an approved system for SGIP in CA, and can also be enrolled into utility-interactive DR programs like ConnectedSolutions (commercial) with Eversource and National Grid, the NYSERDA program, and others. Federal ITC and depreciation could be applicable, and for rural projects, REAP grants could help pay for the CAPEX. Please contact your local sales manager for further details.

  • I am unable to locate Blue Ion LX in the C.E.C. approved equipment list.

    • The Blue Ion LX is present in the C.E.C approved equipment list under the officially documented name "Blue Ion LXHV".

Blue Ion 2.0 FAQ
  • How much energy storage is in a Blue Ion HI?

    • The smallest Blue Ion HI system is 8kWh of Energy Storage that is expandable to 12kWh or 16 kWh of energy storage per enclosure. Many customers choose several enclosures to meet their energy storage. The largest systems configuration for the Blue Ion HI is ~500 kWh

  • How much energy storage do I need for my home?

    • With our Blue Ion HI technology, we recommend that you have an energy storage system that is sized at approximately your highest average daily consumption throughout the year. The average home in America used ~32kWh of energy per day so a Blue Ion HI with two 16 kWh cabinets would be the average size.

  • How much power does the Blue Ion HI provide?

    • Each Blue Ion HI is rated to 8kW of power, and can be combined with multiple Blue Ion’s to provide even more power.

  • I have questions about the Monitoring System, who should I contact?
